SALSA
Danced to richly layered music of percussion, melodies, and harmonies, Salsa has developed into its own international dialogue with various idioms in different regions. Salsa is also known as Mambo or Modern Mambo. Very similar to Chachacha', it is danced to virtually the same music performed at faster tempos. Salsa also originated from the blending of African rhythms, rural music, formal Spanish dance music, and American jazz with much of the development of what we currently know as modern Salsa occuring in New York City.
